David Warnken

A U.S. Navy Vietnam Veteran (Seabees), serving from 1966 to 1972, Dave was assigned to USN MCB 11 Port Hueneme, California, and served two tours in the Republic of Vietnam, Dong Ha & Quang Tri RVN.

David O. Warnken, of Hutchinson, Kansas, was elected as National Executive Committeeman from the Department of Kansas in 2004. He has been a member of The American Legion for 29 years.

During his 29 years of membership he has served The American Legion as Post Commander, Post Vice Commander, District Seven Vice Commander, District Seven Commander, Department Commander, Department Executive Committeeman, and Alternate National Executive Committeeman. He has served on the Post Executive Board. He has also served on The American Legion Baseball, School Awards and Scholarships Committee’s. At the Department level, he served on the Eisenhower Pilgrimage Committee. National appointments include serving as Chairman of the National Security Commission Liaison Committee, and both Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Resolution’s Subcommittee. He is also serving on the 100th Anniversary Observance Committee.

Dave was born in Hutchinson, Kansas. He attended Partridge Rural High School. He attended Kansas State University, Kansas State College in Pittsburgh, Kansas, and Hutchinson Community College. He has worked as a self employed farmer, a Machinery Service Manager and an Insurance Adjuster.

He is a member of Lysle Rishel Post #68 in Hutchinson, Kansas. Dave and Lorraine have two sons, Troy and Neal.
