U.S. Army Veteran SP4 Michael Bartolo

HELP GRANT ANOTHER WISH               SHARE:

U.S. Army Veteran SP4 Michael Bartolo is a Purple Heart recipient from injuries during his 2011 combat tour of duty in Afghanistan. Michael was a squad leader when the truck he was in was hit by an IED killing one soldier and wounding the rest. Michael, along with his team, had to be airlifted from the combat zone due to their injuries.

Tragically, after returning home and surviving the traumas of war, Michael was critically injured in a motorcycle accident in 2013. He sustained a traumatic brain injury and was in a coma for close to three months. He is unable to speak and is virtually paralyzed as a result of the accident. He is now in a long-term rehabilitation hospital and is making incredible improvement in his condition.

Soldier’s Wish and The American Legion Auxiliary Department of New York partnered together to provide our Hero, Michael, with a specialized wheelchair and other assistance that will now allow him to go home for brief 3-4 hour visits.
